IRVINE, Calif. – Haskell & White LLP (www.hwcpa.com), announced today that Managing Partner Wayne Pinnell, and IT Practice Leader Lee Barken, who is spearheading the firm’s efforts in the renewable energy and clean tech arena, will be presenting at Accounting Day on Monday, May 10 in San Diego, Calif. Accounting Day is an annual event designed to promote the accounting and finance industries by offering peer-networking opportunities and quality continuing education for all levels of professionals, with more than 20 speakers sharing their expertise at the single-day event.
Among those speaking at this year’s event is Pinnell, who has been the managing partner at Haskell & White since 2004. His presentation will be based on Section 404(b) of the Starbanes-Oxley Act and will tie into the upcoming compliance deadline for public companies with a year ending after June 15. Pinnell will review the basics of Section 404(b), the preparation required and strategic action items companies can use to create an effective and efficient audit. The topic is also appropriate for private companies looking to improve their internal controls and learn more about SOX.
Barken will be presenting on the topic of Project Finance for Renewable Energy as well as moderating two sessions on the subject. An active member of the CleanTech San Diego board of directors and the treasurer for the Green Building Council’s San Diego Chapter, Barken has become a leader on new green technology trends including: alternative energy tax incentives, renewable energy credits (RECs) and carbon accounting. In conjunction with the theme of the 2010 Accounting Day event, Barken will be discussing green initiatives and emerging job opportunities that accompany this new addition to the accounting and finance fields.
