Building a Career, Finding a Community

As I reflect on my career so far, I’m often asked: “How do you succeed while still taking time to recharge?” For me, it comes down to what I call my five ingredients for success—and yes, they spell out S.A.U.C.E.

When I arrived in California at age 19 with a strong accent, an empty wallet, and a head full of dreams, I never imagined how far how hard work, the right opportunities, and the support of the right people could take me. Thirteen years later, I’m proud to say I’ve built a successful career in one of the most respected CPA firms in Southern California, Haskell & White.

From my beginnings in Poland to being promoted to Audit Manager, my journey has been anything but traditional. I joined Haskell & White six years ago, right after college, during what many would call an uncertain time. Just two months into my role as a new staff accountant, the world shut down due to COVID-19. Learning a complex profession remotely, while studying for the CPA exam, could have been a recipe for disaster. Instead, at Haskell & White, it became an opportunity for growth.

What made the difference?  The culture.

Haskell & White fosters trust and transparency, backed by real mentorship. From day one, I felt empowered to communicate openly, ask questions, and be part of a team that genuinely wanted to see me succeed. That open-door environment is part of what makes the firm stand out—and what allows me to thrive.

Five Ingredients for Success: SAUCE

As I reflect on my career so far, I’m often asked: “How do you succeed while still taking time to recharge?” For me, it comes down to what I call my five ingredients for success—and yes, they spell out S.A.U.C.E.:

  • Structure – Stay organized, prioritize wisely, and always plan ahead.
  • Accountability – Own your work and consistently meet expectations.
  • Unity – Collaborate with your team, support others, and stay aligned.
  • Communication – Be clear, timely, and transparent—with peers and leadership.
  • Effort – Put in the hard work every single day, especially when no one’s watching.

I value flexibility, but I also recognize that sustainable flexibility isn’t just about time off—it’s about trust. At Haskell & White, that trust allows me to show up for my team and also take the time I need to recharge.

Why Haskell & White?

Over the years, I’ve had the chance to work with a wide variety of clients—ranging from private to public companies—and dive into some truly complex and technical accounting issues. But more importantly, I’ve been able to do that while being supported as a person, not just an employee.

What makes Haskell & White one of the best public accounting firms in Southern California isn’t just the technical exposure—it’s the people, the culture, and the commitment to developing future leaders. It’s a place where talent is nurtured, personal success stories are celebrated, and where professional growth comes hand-in-hand with personal well-being.

A Message to Future CPAs

If you’re looking for more than just a job, if you want a firm that recognizes your work, supports your life, and gives you room to grow, I can confidently say Haskell & White is the place for you. With the right environment, a little grit, and the right S.A.U.C.E., you can build something truly meaningful here.
